WIN TICKETS TO THE SLASH SHOW
ON APPETITE FOR THE 80’s LUNCH THIS WEEK

Here’s how to win: Use the open mic on your WBAB app to record an ‘Appetite for the 80’s Lunch’ double shot request. You can request any band that was big in the 80s. Each day we’ll pick one Open Mic request at random to win a pair of tickets to the show.

It’s impossible to play every Open Mic request, but ALL OF THEM will be in the running to win these tickets, just don’t forget to include your phone number with your request. You can enter your number in the ‘notify me’ field on the app (it will pop up after you’ve recorded your request), or just say your number at the end of your request. NO PHONE NUMBERS WILL BE BROADCAST ON THE AIR.

Slash: Known as the hard-rockin’ lead guitarist for Guns N’ Roses and Velvet Revolver, Slash released his solo debut album in 2010 and is currently on tour to support it. Slash tour dates are scheduled nationally and have the acclaimed guitarist traversing the country. Don’t miss a date on the Slash concert schedule 2011. For Slash, the music industry is the family business. His mother was a costume designer for David Bowie and his father was an artist who designed cover art for the likes of Neil Young and Joni Mitchell. The native Londoner moved to Los Angeles for his mother’s career and was dubbed “Slash” by family friend and actor, Seymour Cassel. Slash joined his first band, Road Crew, in 1981 with childhood friend and and future GNR bandmate Steven Adler. They disbanded a year later and Slash formed Hollywood Rose with Axl Rose the following year. After the dissolution of that group, Slash re-teamed with Axl and Adler to form what would become one of the biggest hard-rock acts in music history. Guns N’ Roses went on to sell over 100 million records with their debut album selling nearly 30 million copies on its own! Slash toured with the band throughout the early 90’s before departing in 1996.

Slash formed a side project, Slash’s Snakepit, in 1994 which went on to release two albums before disbanding at the turn of the millennium. Slash also became a prolific studio musician contributing to Michael Jackson’s Danger and the Yardbirds’ Birdland albums to name a few. In 2002, Slash joined rock supergroup, Velvet Revolver, which featured former Stone Temple Pilot’s frontman Scott Weiland. The group marked a revival of Slash’s mainstream career and their debut album was a #1 hit on the Billboard200. Velvet Revolver released their sophomore album in 2007 and announced that they would be disbanding following their tour. Following the dissolution of the band, Slash decided to go solo.

In 2008, Slash released his debut album Slash which debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200. In the style of guitar god Santana, the album featured the vocals of several high profile performers including Dave Grohl, Chris Cornell, Fergie, and Ozzy Osbourne. To promote the album, Slash tour dates were scheduled along a solo headlining tour throughout 2010 and 2011. The Slash World Tour has taken the guitarist across the world and when all is said and done, he will have played nearly 140 shows. Slash tour dates are scheduled through July, 2011. Don’t miss a date on this guitar prodigy’s first solo tour! Use Eventful as your source for Slash tour dates and concert schedule information.
