Soundgarden singer Chris Cornell committed suicide last may leaving behind a heartbroken wife and three children. Cornell’s middle child, daughter Toni, age 13 released a duet she and her dad recorded of the Prince song ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ in tribute to him for Fathers Day with the poignant open letter to him below. Listen to the duet above.
It’s hard to imagine Toni Cornell was even younger than 13 when they recorded this! She obviously inherited her dad’s gift for singing. RIP Chris.
I love you and miss you so much. You were the best father anyone could ask for. Our relationship was so special, and you were always there for me. You gave me courage when I didn’t have any. You believed in me when I didn’t. I miss your love everyday. Recording this song with you was a special and amazing experience I wish I could repeat 100 times over and I know you would too. Happy Father’s Day daddy, nothing compares to you.
