WATCH: Bruce Springsteen and REM Jamming with Patti Smith at Tribeca Last Night!

Monday night’s Tribeca Film Festival featured the premiere of a new concert documentary about Patti Smith called, “Horses: Patti Smith and Her Band.” The movie was followed by a performance from Patti at the Beacon Theatre. After Smith introduced her band she said she had one more person to introduce, and out came Bruce Springsteen, much to the delight of the audience.

Patti and Bruce go way back. In 1978 Bruce was dissatisfied with a a song he was recording called ‘Because the Night’. Producer Jimmy Iovine brought the song to Patti. She rewrote the verses and recorded it for her ‘Easter’ album and the tune went on to become her biggest hit. So naturally that is the tune she and Bruce sang together last night. You can watch the performance in the video above.

The finale of the show saw REM’s Michael Stipe join Patti and Bruce for a rousing version of Smith’s anthem ‘People Have The Power’. Watch that video below and read more about last evening’s event HERE
