According to Newsday: The emergency declaration essentially suspends the usual regulations for purchasing and signing contracts for necessary services such as snow plowing, Cuomo aides have said. The state also can activate more personnel to work during the storm and deploy assets, that normally are restricted to state use, to assist local governments.

Suffolk county’s emergency operations center is open anyone needing emergency services should call 631-854-9100.

Nassau county’s nonemergency hotline has been activated. The number to call is 800-315-5153.
