Hot on the heels of their Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, ‘Yes’ has announced a summer tour they’re calling YESTIVAL. The band will perform at the Ford Amphitheater at Coney Island Boardwalk on Friday, August 11 and will feature a set list of greatest hits from all their studio albums up to 1980. Joining them on the tour is Todd Rundgren and Carl Palmer’s ELP Legacy. Tickets go on sale Friday, April 14 at Ticketmaster HERE
But since original Yes singer Jon Anderson performed with the band at the Rock Hall ceremony will he be joining Yes on this tour? NO. This is the ‘Yes’ line-up of the last few years with Steve Howe, Alan White, Geoff Downes, Billy Sherwood, and most recent singer Jon Davison.
However original lead singer and ‘Yes’ co-founder Anderson teamed-up recently with ex-Yesers Trevor Rabin and Rick Wakeman calling themselves ‘Anderson Rabin Wakeman’, but now that band has announced a name change. They will tour as ‘Yes Featuring Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin, Rick Wakeman’. Sounds like a recipe for a lawsuit doesn’t it. Both bands using the Yes name. Actually NO.
An official statement from ‘Yes’ states: “While Jon Anderson has rights to use the name as one of the co-owners of the trademark, Yes’ position is that every effort should be made by promoters, ticket agencies and all involved to respect Yes’ magnificent and loyal fanbase and minimize confusion regarding the use of Yes Featuring Anderson, Rabin, Wakeman.”
And ‘Yes Featuring Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin, Rick Wakeman’ will perform at the Tilles Center on Sunday 9/24. Tickets go on sale Thursday 4/13 at Ticketmaster HERE
Confused yet? Apparently Ticketmaster is because the’ve posted a picture of ‘Yes Featuring Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin, Rick Wakeman’ on the event page for ‘Yestival’!
